Content

The oeuvre of Swiss artist Mirko Baselgia, born 1982, is marked by particular care in choice, combination, and use of different materials. He merges perfect finish with manifold references to architecture, (art) history, and classical music. His sculptural works thus become symbols reflecting, both in form and substance, the individual and its relationship to the environment. With this he also touches on current sociopolitical issues.

Mirko Baselgia ranks among the young promising artists in Switzerland. He has recently been awarded the renowned Kiefer-Hablitzel Prize and the Manor Art Award Chur, and the Bündner Kunstmuseum Chur staged Baselgia’s first solo museum exhibition in spring 2013. This first monographic book presents a range of his works alongside a conversation between the artist and curator Stephan Kunz.
