Basics, constructions, significance: This extensive book on dry stone walls will not only deepen your knowledge, broaden your horizons, and provide you with great reading pleasure, it is also a feast for the eyes. From start to finish, on all of its 470 pages, this is a uniquely comprehensive source of knowledge, combining cultural history with a guide to plants and animals finding their habitat in dry stone walls and a practical step-by-step building manual.
We’re sad to announce that early this month architect and urbanist Marcel Meili (1953–2019) passed away. Marcel Meili was not only a visionary and influential exponent of the Swiss architecture scene; he was a committed longtime patron of our publishing houses and a trusted friend. After Heiner Spiess’ passing in 2006, Marcel Meili became president of the supervisory board of Scheidegger & Spiess, a role he took on with much enthusiasm. Together with his brothers, he also played an important part in the founding of Park Books and our bookstore Never Stop Reading. We will remember Marcel as a deeply inspiring person.
The bookstore Never Stop Reading is located in Zurich's old town, only a few steps from the Kunsthaus, the University, and ETH. The store features a broad range of international publications on architecture, photography, art, and design, as well as a section of general-interest English books. The new spaces can be used for small exhibitions and we'll be hosting a diverse program of book launches, readings, panel discussions . . . We're looking forward to seeing you there!
